at Crown Point Shores, Mission Bay

The crowd that joined us at Crown Point Shores was bigger then ever! You raised over
$300,000 (and still counting!)with all of the proceeds going to pets in need and our vital
community programs.

Thank you to all the walkers who came out and showed their support for the San Diego
Humane Society and SPCA at the 14th Annual Walk for Animals.

We hope you had a great time at this year's event! On behalf of all the animals, staff and
volunteers at the San Diego Humane Society, thank you for helping spread awareness
of the San Diego Humane Society's programs and services, and for supporting our
mission.

Falco K9 Academy has been training numerous kinds of service dogs since its inception in 1995, from guide
dogs for the blind to police K9s, and now dogs such as Boo. Although we would like to help make service dogs
available for all who need them, what we have found is there is no way around the costs. In addition to families
who are struggling to make ends meet, some police departments are also not able to budget for their K9 units.
As a result, many cities are suspending their programs while others will never even start them. Police dogs are
often the most effective tool a department has for detecting illegal substances and assisting in pursuit and
apprehension of suspects, and it seems a waste not to utilize their diverse skills and talents. It is for these reasons
that Jake’s Dog Foundation was created. The Foundation exists to shoulder all or some of the financial burden of
purchasing, training and maintaining service dogs for individuals, families or public entities that cannot afford
them through conventional means. Each requestor must be able to show a need for the service dog, and prove
that they have previously made an effort to fund the program themselves.
